My very first impression is that you took a picture of black specks of pepper on a white table cloth. Took me just a second to figure out what I was looking at.

Compositionally, there isn't a lot here that follows the "standard" rules. On the positive side, that keeps people guessing, and I like shots that "fill the frame" with the subject. On the negative side, it can be difficult for people to find patterns or a rhythm to the shot, because it essentially doesn't exist.

Technically, there isn't anything "wrong" with the shot (focus, etc), but there isn't anything "right" with it either. It doesn't fit in the "standard" rules to follow, but it does have a high contrast, and it is interesting.

I think what probably hurt the most is while you had "contrast" the subject wasn't necessarily "isolated." The birds are "separated" from the sky, but with that many birds, it doesn't give the notion of being isolated well at all.

An interesting shot that I think would be cool printed really, really big.

If you have any questions, or if I need to further explain/clarify myself, please let me know.

I liked the balance (haha) of the few statues vs. the numerous buildings. I like how they just naturally pop out of the picture.
