Grass and a Lazy Dayby sagestudioComment by Annida: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hi sagestudio,
I hope you are well today. I like the feeling of this photo. So laid back and lazy, I like it. I like the composition of this photo, and the little bit of sky, and the grass taking up most of the shot. I would have liked this shot better if the grass in the forefront was more intact.
I like the lighting; it looks like you were there either in early morning or late afternoon which is when the best lighting is available. This isn't the typical flora photo which we saw in this challenge, and that's what makes this shot original. I enjoyed it very much.
I'll be honest and say that I'm not very strong on the technical stuff yet, and had I taken this shot, I wouldn't have used f8.0. That's a personal choice that I'd make. I would have used macro mode, and a F3 or 4... I'd like to discuss with you why you used F8.0? please send me a private message?
Overall, I think this fits the challenge well, and I like it too!
great work!

Jeni's Etudeby sagestudioComment by jjbeguin: Nice presentation of this delicate instrument. These thick black borders don't do it any justice though. |

The Wright Stuff-2003by sagestudioComment by moodville: I admit to having a soft spot for b&w/sepia toned photographs, but coupled with the old plane makes this really shine. The broody clouds also add a nice dramatic effect. I like the motion on the tail too. |

The Wright Stuff-2003by sagestudioComment by dsidwell: I really like how the cables and wires and struts can be seen here so clearly. Nice choice to use the rule of thirds for this, adding a sense that the plane has space to go on the right. I like the clouds, too, though I wish there were just a little more contrast in them (personal taste on my part). |

The Wright Stuff-2003by sagestudioComment by pncowley: Hey. are you sure you took this during this last week? You didn't take this picture back in 1930 something? JK! Honestly, this picture is very good. I love you sepia tone and the clouds are gorgeous. your placement of the plane in the photo is perfect. I would have liked to have been a little closer to the plane IMO but I know how that is. Nicely done. |

Sun Kissed Blossomby sagestudioComment by indigo997: You did quite a few things really well in this shot. I like the color and exposure. Looks like a tough lighting situation that you handled well. The dof is nice and helps focus attention on the flower. The flower is almost too centered for my taste. I'd rather have it higher or lower - probably lower since most of the interest is in the upper half of the frame.
The color is nice and the backlit petals really stand out. Maybe almost too well. It's a nice shot, and I think the score is about right. It doesn't really portray weather as well as some other photos, and might have done better in the flora challenge. |
