Where the Wild Things Areby sagestudioComment by zeuszen: I enjoy the intimate sincerity inherent in this capture. The natural expressions and gestures are matched by the lighting, which appears to be daylight. The wonderful couch cover relates a traditional element, the clean, unpretentiousdenim suggests hands-on work, provisions, safety. The frivolous dress of the girl on the left introduces joy and lightens the mood. One obvious flaw is the light area behind the top back of the couch, which, of course, cannot just be 'cropped off'. I would, ideally, also be able to see a lil more of the man's sweater, for texture.
All in all, this remains my favourite photograph in the challenge, and not alone for its topicality. This photo has 'range', and I am moved by it. > 8 |
