Melting Metalby QuigleyComment by Ann: It's a good start. The main problem is that not much of him is visible. If there were more horizon, so we could see all (or at least most) of him, I think you'd have a really good shot. |

Melting Metalby QuigleyComment by Yo_Spiff: I thought this was pretty good. Perhaps a little too much empty black space toward the bottom. Cropped a little more to the top might draw me to the subject more. |

Melting Metalby QuigleyComment by McFrikki: It's a cool moment, but like others said it just lacks outlines. I can't really distinguish that this is a whole person, your focus is all on the top of the image which makes this a really odd composition and not pleasing to look at. If you would have backed up some more and tried a different angle to get more of the outlines of the person you would have gotten better results I think. Also you don't need to use the bright sun like this to get a silhouette, could just use the warm colored sky, as the sun overexposes the top of the image and makes a ugly mark on the sword. |

Field Of Reedsby QuigleyComment by JLC: Nice shot. I like the trees in the background. They look like they are protecting the field. |

No More Sun Setsby QuigleyComment by cogerox: Thanks for sharing such a moving story. I wish there was a little more light on the bench, though it looks as though the sunlight may be blocked. |

My First Moon :-}by QuigleyComment by dtremain: The advice I got is to shoot the moon like it was a daylight shot - after all the moon is an excellent reflector, and it is reflecting the sun. Especially with a 500mm zoom, you should be able to shoot 1/60 to 1/250 and still get enough light and excellent detail. Your shot is excellent for first time out - it is oh so very, very easy to blow out the moon while everything else is black, or to blur it badly. |
