Lake Sideby annigComment by GregoryB: Excellent shot Anne of this Double Crested Cormornant. The actual crests or plumage on the top of the male's head only become apparent for a short period of time during the breeding season. The redness of the gullet, behind the beak, also intensifies in colour. Nice capture - looks like he was hiding from you. |

Lake Sideby annigComment by davidw: I believe this is a cormorant. We had one in our lake earlier this fall (in Minnesota) and I tried to get a few shots, but he was really shy and I couldn't get close enough. The light is really nice, too bad about the rock in the foreground. |
