Sunset Water Patternsby DrakeComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that contributes to the open challenge.
An appealing abstract made by the lighting from the sunset. The ripples are varied and form some interesting shapes with some lovely dark and light shades all randomly conjoining with each other. Whilst the image works reasonably well I think a much closer shot concentrating on the lovely random shapes of a much smaller section would have made a stronger image with more impact. |

Lunar Cratersby DrakeComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge
You’ve made great use of that huge lens Drake! As your commenters have already stated there is a huge amount of detail, looking at your details a bright night too! The cropping emphasises the crater you refer to well, sorry I can’t help with any additional info my moon mapping knowledge is non-existant. |

Lunar Cratersby DrakeComment by AJAFOUR: I love how we can photograph the moon from thousands of miles away and still see this amount of detail! |

Early Spring Cardinalsby DrakeComment by ciaeagle: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Challenge: How can you go wrong in meeting a challenge when it's all about you? :) I love that your subject is a beautiful female cardinal. They don't get enough attention compared to their flamboyant other halves.
Composition, Focus, Etc.: Love the pastel colors with the natural background that really makes them pop. Focus on the face/eye and closest foot is great. The far away look/reflection in the eye adds depth and a bit of wonder. (i.e., What is she looking at anyway?) Nice feather details and framing. From what I think is a little water droplet below the beak it seems to be raining ... the lines sporadically in the background reinforce this. I'm trying to decide if they help or hurt. Maybe if there were a few more it would be any easier call. But then again we go back to depth and what makes *you* happy. |

Extreme Wind and Wavesby DrakeComment by sidpixel: Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that meets the challenge
I get to comment on it twice!! Everything from previous still applies and whilst I wouldn’t recommend this sort of post processing it is necessary for the challenge and to an extent it does actually enhance it. The sharpening is particularly effective on the seas. What does let it down is the halo around the lighthouse it is rather too obvious and intrusive. Well done for the high score and placement. |
