However, not all was warm at the birth of General Sherman so long ago. No, there were jealous aunts and uncles that felt shame at such an abnormally large sapling. Rumors flew, and feelings were hurt, and the family was never the same. Thousands of years later, General Sherman reflected on those silly family misunderstandings and gathered his own together.
"My fellow trees, he said. Some of us may be very large (some laughs at that), some may be very small, but we are all trees, and we all do hard and thankless work, no matter our size, and if we stick together as a family, nothing can take us down."
A cheer rose up at that moment among the trees. Which was unfortunate, as it drowned out the starting engines of the highway crew.
