Great Blue Heronby DrakeComment by andrewt: Nicely frozen capture. I think you could have toned down the brightness a little. Use brning in this case to bring out a little more details in the herons head and neck feather areas. To isolate the subject better , I recommend selectively blurring the background more. (no vote) |

The OAKby DrakeComment by dahved: Good idea, but it needs more contrast. If you have Photoshop, here's a quick way to do that: duplicate your image on another layer, and set the blend mode to soft light. Adjust opacity to your liking. (This challenge was special as it used the Advanced Editing ruleset, so you would be allowed to change the mode from Normal.) |

Follow The Leader???by DrakeComment by Citadel: Greetings from the Critique Club!
When I first saw this image I didn't really see how it fit the challenge. After seeing it again and using the grey gunk between my ears I see it now.
The shine off the shells is a little distracting. A circular polarize would help reduce the glare. Of course, animals aren't going to wait for you to get your filter out of your bag.
The crop is a little tight and I find myself wanting a bit more on the top of the image.
Lighting is a little harsh but again: they aren't going to go buy themselves a coke and come back at the golden hour are they?
Overall interesting scene and well handled considering the circumstances. |

Must Be Twitterpating Going On Here...by DrakeComment by Teafran: A good solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. A good entry into the challenge. |

Old Sycamoreby DrakeComment by Sheryll: Moving just slightly back a little but keeping nearly the same angle might show off the nice texture of this trees bark a little better. Moving too far back though would lose the nice view of the limbs against that nice clouded light blue sky so not too much. Just a little. Overall well done. |
