What a great subject to have on hand for you. I could see this being shot from many different angles and perspectives, in different lighting conditions and having a whole series of this cherished treasure.

Beautiful shot! I agree that DPC can often be brutal when it comes to flower shots. If anything, the image would probably do a bit better if the flowers themselves had a bit more light on them.

You are right, it is sepia. I started out with B&W, then changed it back and forth several times. Getting old! Can't remember what I did!
