nice high view. bet it was quite a walk. the tones could have a bit more contrast, the trees are somewhat pale.

I like how you composed it using the infamous rule of thirds to place that barb just so. Nice bokeh too. A simple study but a nice one.

Lots of good advice from everyone. With landscapes, you are either there when the light is good or you take what you get. This is a nice scene and well captured, blown out sky notwithstanding.

With the auto features of many digitals, you get two very different light readings from sky (which would black out most of the rest) or from the woods (and maybe, in this shot, off the lake). Looks like you made the right choice - with good detail in the foreground at the expense of an overexposed sky. Late in the day you makes your choices and takes your chances. Use auto-bracketing to give you several choices - auto-bracket does one shot at your settings, one shot 1/3 step (or your setting) underexposed, and one shot 1/3 step overexposed. It is a feature I don't remember to use often, but can be very helpful in this type of shooting situation. You may have been able to crop a little more from the left side (so the large left tree is cropped about as much as the tree on the far right) to achieve a little better balance to your "frame" - but the trees do serve as a very nice frame for your main subject.

Looks like a beatiful place to visit. I might have rotated the shot a little to the left and added a touch more contrast, but otherwise, nice composition and choice of subject for B&W.

Again, as your second photo, a beautiful landscape.

Sky looks very white. Think the whole photo could use some more contrast.
