Salemby cginoComment by CNovack: Very nicely done! A lot of layers but they all work together to create this collage of salem and the witch trials. The paper texture gives the feeling of age; a visual clue of a time that has passed into history. The fire recalls the flames of witch burnings that happened to these woman who were convicted by mob mentality. I love what you did with the word overlays that speak of things or historical figures during that time from Elizabeth Howe who was one of the accused in the Salem witch trials to Sam Sewall, a judge during those times, to the statement 'I am no witch' to the dates of death of other 'convicted' witches. I love how you overlayed 'Not Guilty" over the figure of the woman - for truly they were not guilty of the 'accusations' that were cast at them; a social commentary exposing the truth much like Hester Prynne wearing the scarlett letter but this time it speaks the truth no one wanted to see at that time. I also love what you did for the bottom of the figures dress - it has the same general shape of a tombstone and thus you overlayed the obituary of Giles Corey who also was one who died during the onslaught of the Salem Witch Trials. Wonderful work of piecing all these elements together. |

Fracturedby cginoComment by daisydavid: Spiced rum sales on the rise! What a crafty image, it's bright and has a fractured continuity (if it's possible) Shows lots of imagination (or rum). |

Fracturedby cginoComment by ursula: Wow. I like this idea very much, and the result too. It's the same story as the original picture, but presented a lot better than the original "snap" was.
Spiced rums do this, eh? Gotta try it :) Message edited by author 2010-11-07 20:51:28. |
