Good crop. Subject is unique and worthy of study. Angle of approach is flat/sideways and creates minimal interest. An approach from the front or top at a leading angle with diminishing DOF would really add to the study of the trigger and sprayer/spicket? Grey background helps to keep flat surface lighting even, but really competes with the subject. In a DPC voted tools challenge, I would predict a 4-5. As a side challenge presentation a great choice for study.

Sharp tool. Curve leads the eye, but crop and angle of approach leaves me feeling flat on the subject; there is too much black and not enough of a focal draw for me to say 'wow. Look at that ding there in the link!'. Silver vs Grey background definitely mutes the impact that the chain's silver could have. Excellent focus. Nice subject matter - amazingly clean chain saw!

Abstract, stark, simple, leading line that works. A soft sharpness that DPC voters will dislike, but I like it a lot. The crop and final sizing makes me feel like it is too small (not 640 - even though it technically is larger!) Might lose some points by those who snap when they see an image that isn't the 'accepted width.' A bit more of a shadow would lend a lot of interest to the image. For me in a tools/macro/closeup/rust/metal challenge, this would get a 6. As a side-challenge macro, I give it an 8.

Subtle light here, perhaps a little small photo, but very nice.

Good lighting and focus is perfect. That has to be either a brand new chainsaw, or the cleanest used one in the world.

Another good one but I think I see your shadow in the right foreground. Focus is spot on.

Lighting is good, not sure if I like the limited view of this object though. Just a personal pref, your technicals are good.

Good macro shot of the chain. Clear and crisp.
