This has a quiet sort of defiance to it - it may be leaning, but it still looks like it's putting up a fight and serving it's purpose. The muted colors are nice, but I do wonder what it looks like with the leaves a bit more boldly colored (not sure what they look like in real life!)

I can see why you liked this. To me it definitely says "old" - both the subject itself and the way you've processed it. It's quiet, it's not flashy, it's got a touch of class. It is not, however, the type of thing that will generally score well here. Too quiet, perhaps. From a technical standpoint, I like your chosen DOF and the composition. About the only thing I'd say you need to pay a bit more attention to (and you really can't in basic) is the very bright spot on the right - it does draw the eye a bit.

Well I didnt vote on this challenge, but I think the majot thing that you got hit for was lack of something of interest. the photo is good technically, nice and sharp, good lighting, and nice DOF and great diagonals. But there is nothing to hold attention and also some people might of thought DNMC if they didnt take more than a few seconds to look at it.

If I were to score it I would have given either a 6 to 7 based upon the technicals and the lighting.
