I don't think it looks too sharpened at all. And I also desaturate most of my portraits. To me it almost always improves them from having the colors intense.

Great cinamatic feel to this shot. What I really like about this shot is that it goes from dark to light from the left to right of the frame. There is a nice subtle diaganol line created from the footprints that helps pull the viewer through the frame and through this light change. When you get through the frame there is this perfect human element to anchor the shot, a great shot, well done!
