Since I haven't seen any of the Matrix movies, I really can't comment if you picture fits or not. It seems to based on what I have heard and read about it though.

This is a great idea, and you have executed it well. The background gives it that futuristic/computer feeling, but the hand serves as a reminder of humanity. Someone had commented about the shadow across the hand. I think that it works well in the picture, because it really shows the suspended look.

I think a bit more light on the handle of the spoon would have made it a touch more effective. This would have given some details that are missing and may have made it seem more "in focus." A slightly larger dof may have helped that as well, though by having part of it blurry, the main part of the spoon is very much the focal point.

Good work -- a creative idea, executed well. Best to you in future challenges.

I like the contrast between the earthy weave of the basket and the shiny flatness of the metal. The diagonal composition works ok - I wish the light had been greater above and less below to show off the edge more. The shallow DOF doesn't work for me - it detracts from the interesting contrast beteen the materials.
