I want to believe that this was actually taken in a field and not in a studio. Regardless, it looks like it was setup. Great shot. Great lighting. Love the way he is making eye-contact. If it was not a setup shot, I would give it an 8 (if it isn't, pardon me for deducting a mark). 7/10.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is a really interesting portrait - the DOF fascinates and the modelling is compelling. The eyes remind me of lovethelight's , which of course is no bad thing. I like your skin handling too, whether you left it or retouched it, it is just right.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: Very compelling bold portrait work.
