I like the composition, but the high contrast and funny focus is a bit disturbing

A bit too dark to me. Great interpretation.

The fingers are almost as metalic as the ring at this high contrast. You've got some great detail in the finger prints on the left hand. I'd think a larger DOF would work better, bringing the ring finger into focus. While this can be a surprising moment, I don't feel the surprise looking at the hands...

I'll tell ya this shot has appeal, and I really don't dislike it. What I don't like is that both hands look too masculine. Please don't take offense, and also note I don't have long sculptured nails either. I will say your lighting is very good as are the tones.

I like the stark black & white of this, but I wish the setup was better. This is a wedding ring, not an engagement ring, so it's not really what would be used for a proposal, and it's being placed on a right hand, not a left hand like an engagement ring would be. Those minor things throw off the "surprise" story and make this look like someone putting a ring on their own opposite hand.

Curiously harsh treatment of the image (high contrast, hard black tones) considering the nature of the event but I do like it.

I really like this shot. An excellent idea for the challenge. I like the composition of this photo. The hands are framed well and the focus is on the main subject. Good DOF brings your attention to the action. I think this photo is over saturated, over contrasted and over sharpened. The light is focused on the womans fingertip and should be on the ring.

I hope my comments were helpful and not condescending.

Excellent choice for the challenge! Nice work!
Great DOF, b&w excellent choice.
The first thing that I noticed was the harsh lines in the fingers .. Its like the contrast is a bit high and its making it look like the fingers are dirty! haha its no big deal, just something that looked "off" to me.

Great idea. This one is a little dark for my taste, but very artsy.
