Surf Lifesaverby dougi555Comment by citymars: One of the more underrated entries, I think. I can't believe how many people were turned off by (or compelled to comment on) the man's backside. |

Eveningby dougi555Comment by JulietNN: lovely, love the smooth rock faces and the water looking like mist, nice job and nice to see a study in BW for this subject |

Eveningby dougi555Comment by bassbone: the smooth feel of the rocks in the foreground, the strong diagonal lines, the smoke like feel of the water and the deep rich blacks of the mountains and rocks beyond - complex yet simple - good work |

Unfortunately he didn't survive......by dougi555Comment by J-Me: I like the lighting and composition of this shot. It's really well done and the border adds a lot to the shot as well.
You know, it's ironic that we went through a huge discussion on "artwork" in a photo and what categorized a shot that is chiefly a shot of a piece of artwork. Throughout that discussion, it was debated as to what could be defined as a shot of a piece of "artwork" and what was acceptable within that realm. This is clearly a shot (very well done) of a piece of artwork as it is man-made/a replica. Yet, it placed 4th in the rankings.
Clearly, if a piece of artwork is well photographed, it will do well.
Congrats on your placement and in this shot proving a point that was so very much discussed in-depth, mostly against this type of thing. It's proven that it's all in the way that it is done and not the artwork that's the issue. :) |
