Future Ballerinasby SonifoComment by jmsetzler: This is a great shot for perspective and I'm giving it a 10. The black and white along with the composition of this shot is excellent. Your border is very distracting from your image. Since the border color has nothing to do witht eh image and is not supported by any color in the image, it IS distracting.. be careful with that :) - setzler |

Roastedby SonifoComment by lisae: Nice idea. I think the lighting is a bit harsh. The colours are really bright and bold, but the shiny spots and dark shadow make them seem a bit overpowering. |

Cute as a Bugs Earby SonifoComment by Artifacts: I doubt I'll ever cease to be amazed by the incredible quality of images submitted for challenges week after week. There is some major talent out there and this artist is one of them. |

Roastedby SonifoComment by FranziskaLang: challenge met. mmmmm ... roasted peppers. yummy! i like how the two peppers seem to support each other and are relatively similar in shape. the colors are nice and bright, yet relatively simple, red, green, black and white. your frame rounds things off well. two suggestions for change: reduce the glare on the peppers by holding a thin sheet of paper between the light source and the peppers. use the full size available (640px in the long side), especially when using a frame. your photo would have more impact when it filled more of the screen. still, i like this a lot. :) Message edited by author 2003-02-10 12:17:53. |

Meet Spot, my pet square.by SonifoComment by teachme53: I found how you created your image as interesting as the image it self. Bonus point for creativity. Your colors work well together and placing the image in the "hot spot" of the rule of thirds also works well. The simplicity of the object as well as the simplicity of the background makes for a dynamic image. Shooting the image at an angle instead of straight down shows you have an eye for the creative. As is, a (7). When working with my students I always try to have them experiment with their image. I have no idea if this would have worked in your favor or not, but did you try and do the image in black and white. Because of the simplicity of the object and background I think the simplicity of black and white would have added to the overall picture. This is just an opinion, try it and see if you like the image better. Then let me know. Keep up the good work. John Gill |

Cute as a Bugs Earby SonifoComment by KarenB: look at those eyes! and the wisps of curly hair!
lighting is nice and even, until you get to the shiny spots on the nose, cheek and forehead. nice catchlights in the eyes, though. a bit of drool on the baby's chin makes it too shiny there, too. nice choice of background. watch on the profile that the nose doesn't cut the cheek. turning the head a bit more toward the lens would eliminate that.
I am not saying any of this is easy, and I realize this is a small child. I do this as my job, and so I handle small children's photos all the time. I am just pointing out what would make this "perfect", but I think this is overall a very well done portrait, and shows that "cliche" doesn't have to look "cliche". Good for you! You have helped to prove the point. |
