Not having seen this movie... the image, outside of the movie context, is not quite credible. The artifacts are just too ostentiously chosen and laid out, leaving out any indication of chaos or oversight, i.e. of those things that often accompany tragedy. The emphasized proximity of camera and photographer, also, contributes to this effect or feeling.

The lighting, although kept appropiately dark, still clearly outlines the 'busier' (and redundant) outlines of furniture and/or objects (top left and centre).

The pose (communicating despair and grief) could be greatly concincing, IMO, if the subject were 'diminished' in the same way that tragedy diminishes man.

At last! I've been through at least 30 shots so far, and this is the first one that "recreates a scene". I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know how faithfully - no pun inteded - the scene was recreated, but at least you conveyed the escence of the plot, and put some effort into it. Nice job. Not sure about the B&W, just because I assume the movie was in color. Sorry, can't vote, but I would have given this an 8.

It appears as if the on-board camera flash was used for this, which makes the lighting just a bit harsh IMHO, however, the idea was executed well. Many people missed the point with this challenge and that's to re-create a scene, not take a picture of something with a similar name as the movie. This picture fits the challenge well.

My voting criteria for this challenge are:

1. Did you capture a scene from the movie (as the challenge brief states) or did you enter a picture and fit a title to it.
2. How close a rendition is your image to the movie.
3. How does the image stand up in its own right.

In this case:

1. Pretty obvious that you shot this specifically for the challenge.
2. I'd not even heard of this movie until I saw your entry. Just had a look at the film web-site and from what I understand of the plot this must sum up some of the feeling of the film.
3. Would this image stand up in its own right? Yes, it shows loss and definitely has an emotional impact.

Overall a good picture which, I guess, meets the challenge. 10
