Interesting composition. I wish that you were able to include the whole flag. The picture says freedom to me. Both the religion and the flag help with this. It also is nice to include youth.
The beautiful shadows that you capture makes it very bold. The desaturation adds a great detail to the shot. Excellent picture.

An interesting idea, great exposure, and nice job desaturating as to bring out the flag. The only problem I see is that many members of your audience will not view the American flag or the ten commandments as symbols of freedom, I'm not saying that they don't represent freedom for you personally, but audience is always something you must look at.

Great subject and angle/composition. The white background and lighting don't look natural, though. Taken in the studio? Deeper depth of field that includes more of the wings would be an improvement, in my opinion. Specks on the leaf are reasons that I disagree with the "no spot retouching" rule. I think we should be able to eliminate those kind of imperfections. The one on the bottom appears to be a bad pixel.
