I see you can work your magic on bird portraits as well. Very nice. He/she looks like a very agreeable client, I'm sure he/she will recommend you to the whole gang.

That's funny..I would still like to see even more vignetting on your image. I guess it is just a personal preference. I like more of the stark b/w and less gray tones. I do think I might have a bit much vignetting on this shot. I'll have to play with it.

I got tired of playing with my image...so I think it's done...baked and out of the oven. I attribute some of the grayness to...well, it's a shot of gray stuff but the burning that I did to highlight the shadows in the stone may have made it duller. If it becomes a seller, I'll go back to it. Cheers!

Nice capture, love detail and the backlighting! Maybe a slight vignette added to the edges to guild you in a bit but not much, just a thought.

Nice backlighting on the feathers, the downside is it "blows out" the details on the right side of the image. I do like the oof foreground and background elements, making the finch the only thing in focus. he really stands out.

Oh you did goooooooooooood ! ! ! What a treat. Both for you and for us :) What a perfect, classic pose he gave you. I love the cold winter feel that the black and white enhances. He looks like he fits right into his winter scene. Awesome as ALWAYS :)

Yes, he sure is puffy! There is good detail in the feathers. It's difficult to get birds eyes to show well unless they are directly in the sun light, especially when they have a dark mask like this bird. You managed to get some eye detail, and even a catch light. The tree in the foreground looks a little washed out on my monitor. It might benefit from a little burn in in that area.

Oh no. . .I LOVE the blur. It's perfect just like it is. It gives the bird life and energy. And you cand see plenty of sharp detail in his wings and head. You really caught him in the perfect instant of wing span. So many times when I try to get a bird in flight, their wings are such that they look like a deformed glob of something you want to turn your head away from.

This is good!

I wish you had got him in focus too, but you're right. It does have a an appeal just the way it is. Maybe it's the dark border that adds a touch of something to the flying goose. I like it anyway.

More vignette, less vignette lol. I'm happy as is Soni. The overal composition is nice and compact and the lighting is great, kind of moody and wonder if this would work well as sepia? If you could have got the birds head a little sharper it would have been even nicer (the birds blurred wings should stay).

You'll probably never get a chance to reshoot the same thing but maybe boosting the ISO to (say) 400 would have given a faster shutter speed to get the head sharp.

I don't know but he sure does have some big balls and look how low he dangles.
Ok, now I see my comment has already been way over done but hey... what can you expect.

Great job on the photo. The darkness, grunge and shadows combined with the slick framing works great here.
