How did you get this shot? It's an interesting one, but at least to me, rather weakened by the lighting. (The window being brilliantly washed-out, and also blurring and erasing the edges and lines of the face of the person on the left. The earpiece would suggest glasses, and yet the lens-frames are invisible in the glare....)

Yes this is desolation. The blue blackground gives much to it. I would try to find a spot to get the most blue of it and get rid of the ground to increase the feeling.

Very good. I don't know how you did it and can't wait to see the description after the challenge. My only nit pic is the intense light coming through the window which affects the face on the left negatively. Other than that a top pic.
