Where's the Nut?by RydanComment by adine: Great squirrel pose! Funny with the pigeon in the background - park fauna. However the flash washes out the squirrel, and all that bank ground detracts from having any focus at all. The table legs in the back are distracting. |

Spirits of the Pastby RydanComment by inspzil: Greetings from the Critique Club

Composition - I have some mixed emotions about this photo. I gotta say on the whole I generally like it but see where some others might've had some doubts. The biggest thing I DON't like is the format and size. I typically like the more traditional aspect ratios as opposed to these panoramic type shots. What i do like is the thoughts that this image gives me. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was Arthur Millers "The Crucible" at least I think thats who wrote it. Which makes it very challenge appropriate. I think the red is a great tone expressing mood very well. The ghostly images on the side are awesome. I think this is very artsy. As a photograph, I'm not so sold, but rest assured I like it!
Technical - Not much to say about this. You did a good job making the outer silhouettes pretty opaque. The people with their hands up are well contrasted and dark. Nice job!
Overall - This is maybe not great as a photograph for this site, but I will say that it is a fine piece of art. Very moody and thought provoking I'll be thinking about this for half the day I bet. I'd be getting this one printed up nice and big if it were my photo and hanging it somewhere. Great job with this, even if it sort of skims the edge of what we expect on DPC. I had my doubts when I saw the thumb, but it is really well conceived and taken. - Inspzil |
