Like the black and white. The slight softness works for the mood of this photo. Not sure why you cropped just the very bottom of his feet out though. Leaving them in with a little more sand would have been better for me.

Still trying to "get this" but, perhaps, it will hit me in a bit and I'll have to come back to let you know that I "got it". I usually feel stupid when I finally DO get it. Nice shot though. Works very well in b&w.
