Day 1 by WriteHeartComment by MaryO: Nice DOF, lighting, and detail, and I like the angle of the main flower in the frame. I agree with everyone about losing the dead flower on the right; I tend to push things out of the way or move myself to a slightly different angle so the unwanted bit is less obvious when shooting if I can. Much easier than fixing it in PP! |

Day 1 by WriteHeartComment by ephln: Nice photo of a white flower and the detail on the stamen is lovely. I have a difficult time with those. Maybe you could clone out the bud in the background with sky color??? |

Day 1 by WriteHeartComment by patio127: I find this very appealing- it's a good point of view and the center is very sharp . I do agree that the dead bloom in back would be better off gone but you are in a natural setting and did not alter it and this I respect. |

Day 1 by WriteHeartComment by annig: one thing I like to do when I am not totally thrilled with a background is to crop and feature just a part of a flower. The sharpness you have here would lend itself well to a close crop around the stamen (?) area and inclusion of some of the white petals & the stamen shadows to add another dimension & offset the lovely yellow. I am VERY new to this art, but what I love about Macro is getting to see the DETAILS we so frequently miss with our eyes. It's nice to give your viewer a treat.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Day 1 by WriteHeartComment by Elaine: I like that there is still detail in the petals and the center is in focus. The sky provides a nice background. (There is a bit of a halo where the petals meet the sky but I can't make any suggestions on what to do about it.) As to composition, in my opinion--which doesn't necessarily mean much--the bud in the background is distracting, and I think the flower should be facing into the shot. Nice start for the challenge. |

Day 1 by WriteHeartComment by Prism: Nice job on the flower. Whites are generally difficult to do well and still keept the detail that you have. I do find the other dead flower seen through the petals somewhat distracting though, but that's JMO. A shorter DOF may have blurred it more into the background. Overall a nice shot. |

Peacock Portraitby WriteHeartComment by rachelellen: Nice focus on the peacock. The negative space would be more effective if the DOF had been just a weeeee bit shallower, though, so that the texture of the wall wasn't distracting. |
