That is a cute puppy, however for me the focus seems a bit soft. I like the idea, just a bit soft for me. Also a touch more contrast would be nice.

Pretty old Alligator Juniper
Yes it is, the only improvement I can suggest is use all the file size allowed.

Greetings From the Critique Club!

Sorry, it's just me. :) I had fun guessing the acronym, but I had the same impression that Melethia had. It feels like you just pointed the camera at something. Now that's not too bad a thing when it's something important like this, but it dooms you to 5-land, and the soft focus dooms you to 4-land. You should always think about what is surrounding your subject, and you can change that by changing the angle of the shot and how close in you get.

Your camera settings make me think it wasn't as bright out as you thought. Notice your aperture is at 2.7. That creates a pretty shallow depth of field, and therefore not much is in focus. Are you aware of the sacred triangle of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture? If not, let me know and I'll point you to a tutorial or write one myself.

Sorry if I'm just giving you basic advice, but I'm pretty basic myself. :)

Perhaps soft focus was the intent and I shouldn't vote down for out of focus? Ok I will...7

This is a beautiful closeup but a tad soft on the focus. If it were sharper, this could have easily been in the 6's.
