Pondered this one for like 5 minutes, just trying to interpret it, and understand its relationship in the challenge. At first I was hesitant- It felt like it was the entire lamp with just a blacked out rod, but I see now that isn't the case. Here's what I like and dislike about this photo:

like: good optical illusion, good exposure, not flat feeling, creative.

like less:feels heavily cropped at the top, and excessively spacious on the sides. I don't care much for the blue bulb combined with the warm lamp base and shade. I'm not sold on the weird sparklies (that's the correct term, right?) that are being illuminated. It gives it a fairy tale, or illustrative feeling, and the rest of the image doesn't quite convey that same mood.
