In England, moorland is burned on a rotating basis, just like you describe. I really admire this photo - it conveys the feeling of intense heat so well. The addition of the Cattle Egret is the icing on the cake.

'because I was not thinking much about iso at the time' - I can't think why not.... A really cool, and very intimate, shot. Probably just as well you had the ISO high, as it allowed for a super fast shutter speed - I can imagine that there might have been evidence of camera shake at a more usual speed! The composition works well, and the detail is pretty good, all things considering. Have you thought about burning (or is it dodging? I can never remember) the eye a little? It might help give it the appearance of a little more clarity. A real find, and an excellent addition to the side challenge portfolio.

I agree with jomari it does look very inviting but for an opposite reason than she had ... we are about 20 degrees here with a fresh fall of snow followed by sleet followed by rain and increasing temps.
