Well done, Jamie! My only criticism would be his face appears a tad on the soft side. I think the PP for that might have been adjusted so it looks a little more natural. Neat Image tends to over-soften skin tones and I've had difficulties with this myself so I tend to avoid portraitures.

Otherwise, it's a real gem, the expression is priceless, the pose and crop perfect. I also like the B/W tone for this. Excellent choice! I think you're definitely on the right path. Keep up the good work!! ;-)

Love the unnatural purple tones, makes it feel dreamy! Only complaint are the weird lines just below the base of the tree. If not there would be cleaner IMHO. 8

You created a patterned background where no pattern existed. It wouldn't have mattered if you'd lightened then burned or darkened then dodged. It's not the technique you used but what you did with it that matters. :)
