"Ok, now turn it all green.."by seeComment by Jutilda: Great close up of the rabbit. It didn't scream selective de-sat so the voters probably didn't get the subtlety. Wonderful detail on him though. ;~D |

"Ok, now turn it all green.."by seeComment by jaysonmc: Cute rabbit. Really a prime specimen. I think the voters wanted more contrast in the B&W section, that would be my guess. The subject itself is astounding. |

Earths fiery past.by seeComment by h2: too much of the blue sky here. as you already have a panoramic aspect ratio, you could have gone further and crop half of the sky off |

desertedhousesby seeComment by nlghttrain: To me there is not enough going on in this picture, the composition is very bland but it is a clean well lit shot |

"Ok, now turn it all green.."by seeComment by purpleflutterby13: Oh, this is adorable! What a cute pose :)
And I was about leave pp tips as well, but levyj got there before me. To throw in my 2 cents anyway - there are a bunch of different ways of desaturating a picture, but I found using the channel mixer to do it gives you the most control over the resulting image. And doing it in a new layer, then using a layer mask to bring back bits of colour from the background is quite quick, and you can reverse the process easily if you mess up bits (and messing up occasionally is inevitable).
But anyway, I think you did a really good job on this, that's a lovely picture :) |

"Ok, now turn it all green.."by seeComment by levyj413: First, this is a well-done photo to use as a starting point. And great job on the desat, Alan! Fur is really hard to mask out well. I think brightening this up quite a bit would help a lot. If you use Photoshop, try a new layer set to "soft light" blending mode. Paint in white over the bunny with a large, soft brush, and then reduce opacity of that layer until it looks right. |
