Real, and a nice capture. Perhaps a small crop from a larger image. Perspective can be everything. The tail sure looks as one. The sparkle on the water sets the birds off well.

Words float in and around my head and I know there's a poem there somewhere (certainly lots to remember), but I won't make excuses for my ineptitudes. I love this image and gave it an 8, probably should have been 9 but that didn't rhyme with appreciate, which is what I was doing.
