Not sure how to word this any better, but I am finding the sky/clouds a bit too overwhelming, taking away from the importance and impact that should belong to the buildings. Good choice of location for the challenge.

I have no idea what the color version of this might have looked like, but I don't see this as a shot that needs or should be B/W The subject gets a little lost in the background without some color. Good luck.

I am so glad this is B&W - it looks like an image from Life or Look taken in the era of their documentary highlights. This grabs my heart and leaves me desolate.

Comment by KDO:
This image is disturbing because it evokes my memory of the horrific beheadings that have been in the news this year. Is that what you intended? I am looking for other hints and parallels. The balloons could be just that. I am curious about your message. The lighting leans that way too. Is this image an enigma, or am I just to cowardly to see it for what it is?

This photograph is stark, but says so much. Use of b&w enhances the emotional feel of it. Hope you tell us where this camp is located.

Too much texture makes everything look like one in this image.

I find this interesting, but I have to admit that it kind of creeps me out. It has the feel, to me, of a combination of a hostage picture and a terrorist. I would call this photo a success, despite some technical weaknesses, because it provoked a reaction from me. nice job.
