Hammersmith Bridge IRby dainmcgowanComment by trevytrev: A cool bridge and city scene and I like the compositon. I have the same camera converted for IR and the one thing I notice is that the IR images come out very flat. The beauty is that I find it more suitable for boosting the contrast in PP then a color file. I would try an auto levels or manuelly adujust the levels, then run it through some USM at about 20% with a radius of 40 at 0 threashold, that should boost the contrast a bit. Just some thoughts from someone with the same issues with contrast in IR. Message edited by author 2008-03-08 00:29:08. |

Hammersmith Bridge IRby dainmcgowanComment by Bud: It looks like it was shot in the rain - it doesn't have an IR "feel" to it. It seems like bumping up the contrast, maybe some dodge & burn in the sky. Great subject and good perspective. |

Hammersmith Bridge IRby dainmcgowanComment by fixedintime: I like the image. The angle on the bridge works well and the clouds are good. I would consider cropping some from the bottom to get those branches out of the image. Or you could clone them out - that may work even better. The branchs on the left bother me a bit as well, but I don't think there is much you can do with them. |

Hammersmith Bridge IRby dainmcgowanComment by twmax: This is a nicely composed scene. I like the leading lines of the bridge. Like others have mentioned, I agree that this needs more contrast or levels adjustment. |

Hammersmith Bridge IRby dainmcgowanComment by pawdrix: I've come back to this image a few times and I'm trying to figure out if the effect you've achieved was real/accurate to the scene or a pp thing.
It has the effect like you used or pushed the Shadows/Highlight tool a little too far. Like the contrast was washed out a bit...unless the evening was actually that grey. There are a lot of tones smack in the middle which I like. The scene has a very smoky feel. |

Hammersmith Bridge IRby dainmcgowanComment by Stiger: I like the setting and the lines of the bridge leading you into town. I would like to see a little more contrast, but that's just personal preference. The grayness gives it a nice misty look, but you still get great detail even to the farthest buildings. |
