The light is reflecting in the eyes which gives this a weird effect...like "red-eye" which has been converted to b+w...otherwise a creative composition.

I generally like darker images but for such a touching moment I don't think it's the best choice. It also took me a second or two to make out what it was. I don't mind looking but I don't like to struggle unless it's worth the climb.

It took me a moment to figure out what this was, but once I did, I was very impressed, and sat looking at it for a while. It's subtle, but very emotive, and has a whole range of feelings associated with it. Very well done, wonderful lighting and composition. I fear this will not do as well as it deserves, but know that you succeeded.
