A Tribute to the Legend 1902-1984by GringoComment by bpickard: One of only two 10s
Composition:great central focus framed by the two peaks - a sense of isolation and three dimensions.
Post-Proc.: Tonally very dark but detail maintained skillfully...just enough light to balance mood. Sharpening high but not too much. Exceptional burning on peaks.
Overall, reminds me of a highly detailed lithograph. A gem. Added to favourites. |

A Tribute to the Legend 1902-1984by GringoComment by Gene L.: Lovely scene and excellent B&W conversion. That is, very good tonality. I like the visual leading from foreground to middle to background. My only niggle is wondering if there could have been a composition that would give more foreground (visual) motion. Overall a most excellent entry. |

A Tribute to the Legend 1902-1984by GringoComment by Sonda: And what a tribute it is, I think Ansel would very much approve of this. The tones are represented with amazing detail, not too soft or sharp. The tree is standing out proud in the center. If there is anything I would try different here is making the tree stand out a little more, maybe just a tad more contrast at and around the tree. I hope this will ribbon, GJ. |

Gasolineby GringoComment by srbrubaker: It's a really super shot. It takes quite an accomplished eye to see the photographic possibilities in the ordinary. Mist and water and clouds and cows, and shiny things and rocks and photogenic people are easy subjects. Gasoline stations, I think, are more difficult.
As for placement, this has got to be a tough category. I'd encourage you to consider your success in terms of your score which is really high. Take more shots of mundane things and make them beautiful! What could be a more powerful way to beautify the world than to transform caterpillars into butterflies? |
