Nice shot, good pattern and one of the better uses of color I've seen in this challenge (though honestly I'm not that far into it yet). As for composition, I think I would have liked to have seen the model's eyes; the hat being down over them seems a bit forced. Otherwise I like the shot.

Greetings from the Critique Club and Best wishes for the New Year Chelsea!

Composition:

I don't know very much about Pink Floyd so can't really comment on your choice of song! I am afraid I would have to agree with one of your commenters below, this has more of a 'snapshot' appearance than that of a well thought out and composed image. I am sure it is difficult to get animals to do anything we want them to do but I would have tried to get them to 'pose' for this shot, be it sitting or standing, and maybe have them slightly off centre.

Technicals:

For me what lets this image down most is the lighting. The sky is far too blown out and the dogs are far too dark. Can I ask what mode you had your camera in? (auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, manual?) You have the same camera as me and I tend to shoot in either Aperture Priority or Manual. I feel this gives me the most control over the 'settings'. I am also wondering what you have your white balance set to as I too can see the blue 'cast' that one of your commenters mentions. You have also used a circular polariser, this doesn't seem to have had an effect on the image. You may know this already but it doesnt hurt to repeat it, your polariser will work best when the sun is at 90 degrees to your camera.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

the sky is way too blown out, best use some lighting on the foreground if you want a shot like this

The dogs have a blue cast that keeps them from popping. Maybe consider changing white balance (open shade setting would warm them a lot; cloud setting would warm them a bit).

This looks like a snapshot; the sky is very overexposed and the dogs noses are dark and lacking detail.

For this picture to have wound up so low in the competition is a shame.
