Well, here's my two cents. :)
It does appear to be slightly out of focus... but I know from experience how difficult it is to photograph a cat - mine simlpy DOES NOT WANT TO SIT STILL! I love the lighting here - I think the shadow on the cat's face is very interesting! One thing that I've found to do is really neat, is to try and get the other eye to stand out from the shadows. Like this image:

Not sure if it's possible though - if the shadow was over the face like that in the original, it might be impossible to bring out the detail. But if you purposely burned the shadow, you might be able to go back to the original and do something. Just a little idea. :) Excellent photo, and what a sweet kitty!
