OK at the risk of you hating me I have to be honest and say that I am not a huge fan of beagles (I guess it may be the assoication with fox hunting), but you have produced some wonderful shots of them that could have me changing my mind in the B&W challenge was just amazing and surreal, and I have to say this is also one of those shots that could get me to be a beagle fan. Fantastic expression (you can tell that dog is happy to be going home with his 'mum') and framing and super colours (which work well with the blown out white). Gotta love that tongue too

Fantastic

Barney looks happy -- I'm sure he was overjoyed. I hope the chemo is not too rough on him.

Great story behind the photo. I know what you mean, stepping out of your comfort zone. But it really yields results.

Comment by Ken:
I think sometimes we can do our best photography when we're out of our comfort zone. I know I tend to focus (no pun intended!) on exactly what I'm doing and not just aim and click the shutter. Of course, for candids sometimes you must do this. How did he feel about it after you showed him the picture? I bet if you printed this out (even on home printer), bought a frame at the dollar store, and gave it to him he'd be delighted.

The eyes are a little dark. It's advanced editing, so you can bring up the eyes to help them stand out, and sharpen the image a little. Overall, I like the crop and the closeness, emphasising the emotion.

Comment by Charlene:
Great portrait, and very raw. It takes a lot to get out of our comfort zones, don't know that I could do it. Wonderfully done.
