The reflector really makes his face stand out, so your experiment worked. What I like here are the lines: crutch, shadow on right, and line on his right shoulder. They all seem to flow together for me.

Capturing this is difficult with the sun completely on one side but you did a great job. I love the way his face is lit so well. He'll be starting school with the cast, that'll make for some good conversation, and laughs. Very nice portrait and good looking boy Michelle.

I like how the crutches are included in the shot, and how you have chosen to crop out some of his head. That adds so much more context and "story" to the shot.

Poor Jack!! Looks like he's making the best of it though! Great composition, very sharp and I love the shadows of his lashes on his cheek. Eyes and teeth are beautiful!

This(and one other) photo stops me in my tracks and makes me think about what I'm viewing, more so than any other. I think it's in the layers of texture that do it for me. Perhaps not particularly abstract in shape but leaves a lot of room for different types of interpretation. The b/w here looks great. I don't mind those few hotspots here.
