Hermann the Germanby kebmod54Comment by smellyfish1002: My neighbor was a WWII veteran with lung damage from the war. He was a really neat old guy, awesome father and grandfather. He was confined to his house for 40 years due to his medical condition and treatments. Over the years, he collected tens of thousands of books, and his favorite was called Herman the German. He loaned it to me, but he died before I had a chance to read it. I still have it, and it was kind of out of sight, out of mind. Your photo has inspired me to dig up that book and read it. I owe it to a great man who has left this place behind, for a better one.
As for your photo, this is a great detail. Your lighting is perfect to give you lots of contrast and graytones. DPF is also ver good, everything being sharp and detailed. Nice shot, and do you know if this statue has anything to do with the book I am referring to? (supposed to be about a spy during the war).

The Right to Bear Armsby kebmod54Comment by Heather-Mae: I like the strong symmetry in this photo. I think the tiny reflections I'm seeing on the left side are distracting though. They either need to be faded out completely or a little brighter so I can see what they are. Otherwise, I like that you can see the wood grain in contrast to the metal. |
