This is the first time I've seen a Protea; it sure is an interesting flower. The red really stands out against the green; it's unfortunate the couple of leaves are blocking the whole flower. What I typically do in this situation is gently move the leaves away or even tie them off. Of course, not all flowers can handle that treatment, and I'm guessing this isn't your Protea anyway...
