Sorry but the background isn't white, it's blue. You can get a white background by aiming a bright flash or light at it.

Agreed that cattails are flowers but it is difficult to see the point being made in the picture. The cattails are not even clearly visible.

This looks like an awesome location for a good shot. My suggestion is that you go back, find a time with a better sky, find a way to get the chain link fence and the cars out of the shot, and don't cut off the antenna at the top of the pic. Also, since it's a lighthouse, it would be cool to see some ocean in the background.
