The Dynamic Duoby noranekoComment by JuliBoc: Nice going, Catherine -- good enough for a ribbon in some challenges. I like knowing that you set this up yourself, rather than just discovering it. You made those little models pay for the parsley. I curious how you accomplished the nice background bokeh with the long DOF. BTW, I like the variation in color between the two caterpillars. |

Half-Moon Bridgeby noranekoComment by slaakso: I was not really sure about the filter applied to this one but I think the highlights are what grabbed me. It is luminescent and playful. |

The Dynamic Duoby noranekoComment by Techo: Great shot! :)
The background is a pleasing color and the DOF is perfect. It'd be fun to track them in their stages of life till they emerge as a full fledged butterfly. The process of when they turn into a chrysallis is amazing to watch and it can happen in just 15min. They do give you a warning , they start to attach themselves to a place they find sturdy. May hang there a few hours to a day before it starts to happen. I think it depends on the enivornment and how long they are left completely undisturbed.
The one on the right looks a lot like a Swallowtail caterpillar. Found one last year during the early fall season, the story's here //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=416843Message edited by author 2007-09-08 14:48:21. |

The Dynamic Duoby noranekoComment by Melethia: It must be tough when you have such delightful shots to choose from! Haven't checked yet, but hopefully you put the other one in your portfolio, too. They're cute little guys! The one thing I see in your work (and it's been there all along - you just keep getting better at it) is dedication to what you want to create and the knowledge of the tools you need to do it. The "for instance" here is the chosen aperture to achieve what you wanted. |
