Paddle Wheelby JuliBocComment by bryantbus: I think this fits the diagonal challenge well, I also like the green color, I wounder if it were bw or had a blue tent would it have more of a steel look? Or Red for a rust look? (Pink & Aqua so FL. I loved that about FL) |

Ivory Netsuke on Old Laceby JuliBocComment by mist: Yeah I think that you got scammed by the same thing that hit me. The white comes across as a soft grey and noone gives the benefit of the doubt even if it was pure white in your room. |

Ivory Netsuke on Old Laceby JuliBocComment by Melethia: I think it's white enough (I allow a pretty big range of "white") but I will agree that the eyelet of the case detracted from what you were trying to show as far as the size of the figurine. As far as tabletop photography, I don't have lights either. Natural light from the window can be your friend, and believe it or not, a piece of white posterboard reflects a great deal of soft light. You can use the window as your primary source, and the white posterboard from the other side (probably at a bit of an angle) to create "fill" light. I was kinda amazed how well it works. |

Ivory Netsuke on Old Laceby JuliBocComment by raish: I didn't get to vote on this one. It's a lovely picture and it's under-rated in the voting. Guess the lace should have been whiter. Could have put it on a glass table and back-lit it? I suspect conspiracy against novices is at the heart of this disgracefully discriminatory voting though. Take heart - it is very unlikely that we will get any greener or suck any more :) Great shot. |

Ivory Netsuke on Old Laceby JuliBocComment by noraneko: Julianne,
I had a hard time voting on this photo during the challenge. I like the composition, the Netsuke is gorgeous, and the old lace is also pretty. I think what troubled me what that I didn't feel they all go together quite right. The lace is perhaps a bit busy and draws eye away from focal point. A closer crop might also be something to consider on this image. I bet this will be a great memory photo for your family - I'm sure it evokes very fond memories! |
