It may have been oversharpened to make up for a soft shot? Dirt has been showing lots of sharpening artifacts in people's work. The composition looks pretty static and I'm not getting a lot here. 4

Yes it is, but the composition just doesn't work for me, with the tip of the mound clipping the frame, the bulldozer almost out of the frame, and random buildings peeking in at the top

The crop at the top definitely jumps out as uncomfortable here.

Mining is all about dirt. It still needs something to make it more than another day at the mine for me to rate it higher.

for how wonderful the blue looks, the red rocks seem much less vibrant

My husband threatened to throw this "PLASTIC" Woody away, then said, "I guess I'll have to get you a new "REAL WOODY" for Christmas. So a real woody is on my Christmas list. Don't suppose it will make my photos any better with the tremendously low scores I seem to continue to get. Even so, if I made one person laugh with this little set up then I accomplished the one thing I set out to do, against my husband warning that this will not help my average. The white balance is different platters with various shades of white. Challenge did not say had to have a solid white or bright white background.
Lesson learned, go with the flow if a previous challenge has set a precedent.
side thought; Interesting to see so many bright on white and black on white scoring so well.
second side thougth; There seems to be a few mean commenters out there, so my very sensitive side is being provoked to grow much stronger. Not that that is a bad thing. I just hope I do not become to mean in the process.
