The focus on the iris is a little muddy, and there's no real center of attention for the photograph, to me - nothing to look at, for the picture to be about.

I like the color you have captured in the flower. However, in my opinion, the composition just doesn't quite seem 'right'... it's a bit off balance: not quite centered, not quite rule-of-thirds. I would suggest bringing the yellow center of the flower a bit more left in the frame (closer to thirds), and using the nice line formed by the contrast of the green and brown to lead the viewer's eyes to the rest of the image. A shallower depth-of-field focused on the center of the flower might also serve to reduce the impact of the more distracting background.
