The top part of the rose petals are good, they are lit well, slightly soft and delicate. It looks like you probably only used one light source on this, coming from the top left. Because of this the stem and leaves are darker and as such slightly blurry/OOF or far more soft focus and has some noise. The foreground petal also shows a shadow, which is a little distracting. Softly lighting it from the lower right as well as the upper left may have helped with the foreground petals and leaves. There is also a strip of green in the lower right corner that's a little distracting too. Compositionally it's ok, it's in a classic center position, but for a more dramatic image you could try playing around with different angles.

I like the rose...love flower shots in general...but there is just something unappealing about the color of the background...perhaps the white balance was off?

Mmmmm... more tate than aroma, I think, but yes, it meets the challenge, and I like your use of colour. I don't think I'd have had the plate bisect the frame straight down the middle. Less negative space would have been better, I think.

You know, somehow I am trully grabbed by this portrait of your (?) dog.
That eye, that eye, that cute hanging ear, that nose, that curled tail, who wouldn't love a dog like that? :)
Nice composition, good whitebalance and exposure. Easy to blow out the highlights on a subject like this. Good dof, good focus on the eye. The faint tail makes it 3D instead of a flat image. First pet pic I gave a 10 (that's in about 13.000 votes). :) You just grabbed that emotion of a pup in its new loving environment. Well done!

And do I know the downside of a new pup, o man! Our last bouvier (belgian race: bouvier des flandres) used to shit in the kitchen and kick it all over the floor. The smell...........ooooooowwwwwwwwwbbbbbleeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhh. Guess who had to clean that up. :)
