Computing Piby JeileenComment by dsidwell: Here I see a fairly straightforward communication of what pi is and its function in calculating circles. To that end, it succeeds. It is a straightforward point of view, straightforward composition and focus, etc. If you want to go beyond the straightforward, perhaps some more mysterious or dramatic lighting may be in order, or perhaps a different perspective could show me even more about pi such as it's "essence" or even "spiritual" nature. Even just putting this in black and white might hint at such things, as color seems to play a very small role here. Good luck! |

Pointed Colorby JeileenComment by kiwiness: This pic is good, it is a little grainy but the composition is perfect! The only part that spoils it is the border. The edges are different sizes and the color really doesn't fit the image. In my opinion the border lowers the quality of an otherwise excellent photo. |

Architectural Harmonyby JeileenComment by kiwiness: Critique Club
Hello Joy. Congratulations on finding such an excellent subject for the symmetry challenge. The composition is very good, especially with the flagpole being exactly in the middle. The reflections are amazing. The green of the hedge breaks the blue/white color harmoniously. Good job!
A couple of things I'd change would be that the whole image seems to be tilted to the left. A slight rotation in the post processing would have fixed this or maybe holding the camera more level when taking the shot would have helped. Also I would have cropped out the sidewalk, it is a little distracting.
I don't think the image is too bright as has been mentioned in the comments below, but maybe the saturation could have been tweaked to bring out the colors more.
All in all this is a fantastic image and you can be proud of it.

Computing Piby JeileenComment by ruthiek: The picture is nice and sharp, and I like the way you convey pi. For me, the photo would be more balanced if the whole legal pad was in the picture (I'm not sure why you cut off the lower right corner). I would like to see the same photo without the ruler next to the pad, and without the brown frame -- somehow it seems to that it could be a stronger photo without those elements. |

Pointed Colorby JeileenComment by inspzil: The border is most yucky. The framing is leaving a little too much sky here and the shadows are very very harsh. Maybe a little fill flash would've helped at least lighten those shadows up. Not a bad pic overall though. |

Pointed Colorby JeileenComment by mcrael: Considering the bright sunshine, you've captured this very well. Focus and colors are very crisp. Your right border doesn't match the left. That and the color you chose for the border detract overall. |
