space amoebaby BeetleComment by macrothing: I gave this a 5. I liked the concept and composition and it was a good fit for the username. My main 'criticism' was/would be that it appeared flat, contrast/pp/something seemed a little too 'tweaked' to the point it started to verge on digital art, in a way. My monitor is usually fairly good, but this does seem a fraction dark, but then that is presumably what you have gone for with the 'space' theme. Perhaps trying to create more distance/depth between the 'amoeba' and the 'space/stars', and either more detail or a lighter color on the 'amoeba' to try to make it 'pop' more, may have made this better in my opinion. |

space amoebaby BeetleComment by Beetle: Thanks Robert. I realize that SOME of the lousy score has to do with people not liking the photo.
However, I am convinced that at least some of it is due to
A) badly calibrated monitors that didn't show enough detail and
B) some people obviously not understanding the word "amoeba".
And those two contributors upset me. |

space amoebaby BeetleComment by Bear_Music: It's kind of sad that this did so poorly. I didn't think it was totally brilliant or anything, photographically, but it scored high in my eyes for originality and a certain funky humor. I'd have expected it to finish in, say, the 50's.
But, then, I scored a 6.2 on my stare at the sun entry and that was only good for 41st, so the voters were certainly being amped-up in this challenge :-) |
